Title

Sexist Career Options for Girls

Subject

These images are from the Barbie game and Ben Casey M.D. board game, respectively.

Description

The Barbie game is set in school, thereby mentioning part-time jobs to girls in "a Chance to Earn" section. Jobs such as dog walking, doing the dishes and baby sitting are listed. When the Barbie game is placed next to the Ben Casey M.D. game, one can notice the only female figure depicted on the board is that of a nurse assisting Ben Casey. This clearly shows that females back in the day didn't have respectable jobs and usually worked as assistants for males.
